Swift Racing’s use of sandwich construction in the manufacturing of their racing shells helps to create a strong, durable, and lightweight product. This technique involves using a core material, such as Nomex honeycomb or foam, that is sandwiched between two layers of material, typically carbon fiber or Kevlar.
Sandwich construction has several benefits for rowing shells. Firstly, it provides high strength and stiffness while keeping the weight low, making the boat easier to move through the water. Additionally, the sandwich construction provides excellent resistance to torsion and bending forces, which is crucial for maintaining stability and speed during rowing.
Safety is paramount when you are in the rough conditions of coastal rowing. These shells feature:
Our coastal rowing shells are available in Elite Carbon and Elite Plus construction – offering the perfect combination of performance and price.
Coastal rowing singles come with your choice of either stern wing or bow (reverse) wing aluminum riggers.
Coastal rowing doubles and coastal rowing quads come with folding ali back riggers.
Our riggers are made from high grade aluminum, professionally welded, and hard anodized for a long-lasting finish.
Singles also have the option of our quick release system to make rigging and de-rigging faster and easier.
Foot Stretchers & Shoes: All coastal rowing shells come standard with the FlexFoot system (similar to C2 erg) to make it faster and easier to get in an out in a beach sprint. You also have the option of Bont Rowing’s Project B shoes, Active Tools adjustable shoes, or Swift Racing shoes.
Seats: All coastal rowing boats come with an adjustable height carbon seat.
Fins: All 1x and 2x come standard with a carbon fiber beach sprint fin. There is also the option of a larger, carbon fiber drop-in fin designed to help row on straighter courses. Fins can easily be changed with a 2.5mm Allen key.
Rudders: The 4x+ has a fin/rudder system just in front of the coxwain seat. The 1x and 2x can be supplied with an optional shoe controlled, stern-mounted rudder that can be pulled up out of the water.
Custom names can be added at the factory but must be ordered at the same time as the boat. Letters will be 50mm (~2 inches) tall, in arial font, and can upper and lower case.
All coastal rowing boats come with a light grey hull. You have the option of red, aqua blue, yellow, or light grey for the deck and cockpit area.
All Swift Racing coastal rowing shells come with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for the boat and riggers.
The manufacturer’s warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect, improper storage, damage in transit, or any repairs/modifications done to the boat.
Our elite carbon coastal rowing shells are designed to be slightly under world rowing minimum weight and extremely durable.
They feature an outer skins of kevlar for durability, a honeycomb core for stiffness and to save weight, and an inner skin of carbon.
Coastal singles come in two different styles: the C102 and the C103.
C102: this is your standard coastal shell that is designed to excel in waves and with more novice coastal rowers. The additional 1.5cm of waterline beam, compared to the C103, makes this boat more stable and comfortable to row – often allowing the athlete to row faster!
C103: these coastal shells feature a waterline beam that is 1.5cm narrower, compared to the C102, and are designed for more experienced coastal rowers or calmer conditions.
Shell weight: 70 lbs
Average rower weight: 143-209 lbs
$6,450
Coastal doubles come with the folding aluminum riggers.
Shell weight: 120 lbs
Average rower weight: 143-209 lbs

Our elite plus coastal rowing shells are designed to be the most cost-effective competitive coastal shells on the market.
Weighing approximately FISA minimums, these shells feature an outer skin of fiberglass for ease of repair, a coremat foam core, and an inner skin of carbon for stiffness.
